Outside of a tour of our most neglected liminal spaces like Dunston or Walker, this is probably the worst impression of the north east you can give some one, both culturally & architecturally and I chose to do so at half 11. Think he even thanked me.</p> <p>As usual in my inevitable style, my computer literally blew up a week later and I never got to scan the photo and send it to him, which was a shame because I loved it, and this was right at the start of night slugs as a label, I’m not one to put weight on liking stuff before its big or trendy, but I’d been listening to bok bok’s show on sub fm before the night slugs concept, it was the only one I checked for each week, the first internet radio I really followed, and you could hear something in it, the mix of styles pulling it in different directions, sometimes not working , sometimes fucking amazing. The loose lower end spasm affiliated family was a who’s who of unique styles found through myspace music and blogspot networks, Girl U.N.I.T (swear this is how he used to write it), Prancehall, Oneman and Manara, expanding across the atlantic to Kingdom, Egyptrixx and Shadetek all completely different styles but unified through some strange lineage.
